THE TLC MINISTRY
This ministry delivers four meals each week to
members of the congregation. The purpose is to say to shut-ins,
those who are ill, those returning from a hospital stay, those who are
suffering emotionally, or for a variety of other reasons that you are
important to us, and we care about you. This ministry is an avenue
that reaches out to others in a real and tangible way. Over 185
meals were delivered last year! |

WEDNESDAY NIGHT CARD
MINISTRY
This ministry is a positive outreach
in the church. On average, 70 - 80 cards are sent out every month
to people on our prayer list. Last year we sent almost 1000 cards!

LOCAL MISSION FUND
The local mission fund helps many
who are in need of assistance. The local mission office is open on
Tuesdays mornings. Jesse Inman works with many who have heavy
needs. Some of the needs addressed include: food, money for
utilities, gas, medicine, rent, and child care needs. |

THE MISSION MEAL
This is a service project celebrated
annually in our church. For several years, around the Thanksgiving
season, we have prepared and delivered a meal to the homebound in our
community. Names of shut-ins, needy, senior citizens and others in
our church family and the community are solicited. Approximately
150 names are usually submitted and these individuals are delivered a
meal of turkey, dressing, green beans, cranberry sauce, sweet potato
souffle, and homemade pound cake. The meal is prepared and
delivered by church volunteers and donations are collected to help pay
for supplies used in serving. This is a wonderful opportunity to
extend Christian love to others. Everyone who participates in
truly blessed. |

FOOD PANTRY
Lyons First United Methodist Church is excited to extend
its ministries and missions into provision of food relief for the needy
in Toombs County, through the Food Pantry. We will provide
sustenance that is specific to family needs on a regular basis as long
as respite is needed. Our focus will be to help families improve their
current situation, by providing “daily bread” in order for these
families to focus their limited incomes for sustaining purposes other
than meals. The Food Pantry is open on Thursday mornings at
9:00 a.m.
Food and
monetary donations can be made by calling the church office at 526-6078.

KID'S MISSION CAMP
The first annual Kid's Mission Camp
was held this year with 18 children attending. The children
were involved in hand-on mission projects to help others who live in our
community. Each day, the children learned about a real child who
saw a need, chose to act, and made a positive change in the lives of
others. Some of the projects the children participated in at camp
include baking and delivering cookies to senior citizens in the
community and performing music at the Bethany Home. Other
activities included making care bags for foster children, donating food
to the animal shelter, and donating items to the local Goodwill and
Salvation Army. The children learned that it's never too early to
start helping others. |
